Energized

5 miles in 36 (ish) minutes and one caramel frappacino later I'm a ball of energy. :-)
Now let's see if I can implement a Metropolis-Hastings Algorithm based Markov Chain Monte Carlo app in the next hour.... I'm actually pretty excited about it. :-)

Tomatoes and Running

Quality vs Quantity

I started reading a small booklet on the train this morning about growing tomatoes. Quantity: small. Quality: high. Outcome: good. I learned so much in a few short pages. I am already excited about starting next year's plants and I have only just begun with this year's. I hope that this year's plants don't fall prey to the 'busy' schedule.

I'm soooo tired today. Not exactly sure why. I suppose I stayed up too late. I think it was 11 or 11:30 when I fell asleep. Then I woke up at 6 this morning. Quantity: ok. Quality: good (I think). Outcome: tired. Didn't eat much for dinner and that happened around 10. Quality: high. Quantity: small. Outcome: hungry. I suppose it does add up.

Now I'm getting ready for my lunch time run. I posted to the Partners running group to see if there is anyone else interested in running at lunch. Need some camaraderie to keep up my motivation. I guess 1 hour was not enough lead time to benefit me today... I've been feeling very good running with just a little tightness in my right knee. Quantity: high (...for me, average 3.5 miles per day). Quality: high. Outcome: ?(I guess I need a race).

New Leaf

Going to give this another try. This is a test to see if I'm at the stage in my life yet where I can update this kind of thing regularly.

Slept on the couch in the den last night because that's where I happened to be when I got tired enough. :-) Got to see Chrissy run a good race at Mine Falls last night. A respectable time in spite of her training :-P. Ate at Panera in Nashua, cheap easy no dishes. Threw the kids in bed when we got home and sat in the backyard by a fire for the first time in our little fire pit table. Perfect (except for the mosquitos).

This morning I woke up in a whirl wind. Gathered all (in turned out only most) of my things for work and working out into my bag. Forgot socks for work :-(. Water and misted the greenhouse plants and the mushroom log. Then drove to Alewife listening to neurology lecture CDs in traffic.

In town I bought gatorade at the CVS by the MGH redline stop, dropped my bag at Ruth Sleeper Hall and ran over to the esplanade for a Capoeira workout. About 25 minutes. Pretty good sequence: cocorinha (kick coming from left), au right, meia lua de compasso left, cocorinha (kick coming from right), armada left without landing, into walking handstand spin hands replacing feet one at a time, then au as soon as second foot hits the ground.

Grabbed a big breakfast from the bar at Whole Foods.

Chrissy emailed me about coming in with the boys for lunch one day. Steve Zhang emailed me to ask about lunch on Wednesday. Pat emailed me about dinner on Thursday. Very social :-).

And last and not least I have a very interesting meeting from 4 to 4:15 today :-).
